Center for Civic Engagement

CougSync Resources

CougSync is a recruitment and management tool for community organizations working with WSU students and the primary means for tracking WSU student civic engagement. This online system is a valuable tool for connecting your organization’s needs to WSU students across the globe. Below you will find some helpful tips to ensure that your organization is able to reach as many WSU students as possible. For a comprehensive guide to CougSync, check out the CougSync Setup Guide, which includes step-by-step instructions with screenshots on how to join CougSync, setup a portal profile, create and duplicate opportunities, and approve student hours.

If you need assistance with navigating CougSync, contact the Community Partnerships team at 509-335-7708 or cce.partners@wsu.edu.

  • Register for CougSync

By registering with CougSync, community partners can create an interactive profile (portal) and manage civic engagement opportunities for students from start to finish. CougSync documents the details of the partnership (i.e. student information, course information, and community information) and the affiliation agreement between WSU and the community agency. Community organizations can update organization information, post opportunities for student engagement, view rosters of registered students, and track community engagement hours. To register for a profile on CougSync, please complete the Community Partner Request Form found here.

  • Sign In to CougSync

CougSync has two methods to sign in: one for community partners and one for WSU students, staff, and faculty. Community partners sign in by selecting the "Community Partner Sign In" button in the upper right of the CougSync homepage.

When you click on this link, you will be able to enter your username and password to access your portal. WSU students, staff, and faculty sign in with their WSU Network ID and password.

  • Posting Opportunities in CougSync

Posting engagement opportunities to your CougSync profile is the best way to inform WSU students about the various ways students can support your mission. The CCE currently supports community engagement on the WSU Pullman, WSU Global (online), and WSU Vancouver campuses to ensure that your postings reach a broad audience. Additionally, the CCE works closely with the WSU Academic Success and Career Center to promote service learning internship opportunities posted on CougSync to Internship Coordinators at every WSU campus.

To post an opportunity to CougSync, from your organization's home page (seen below) click 'Events'.

Next, click 'Create an Opportunity' on the right hand side of the screen to enter the details of the opportunity.

Utilize the CougSync Opportunity Template to create engaging opportunities for WSU students. The CougSync Opportunity Template includes several examples of successful opportunity descriptions.
