Students In Service

Students in Service is a Campus Compact AmeriCorps program that supports and promotes the engagement of higher education students in their communities by offering Education Awards to those who participate in community service, service-learning, or civic engagement activities. Through the Students in Service program, students all over the western region are eligible to receive an AmeriCorps Education Award for doing community service. Students select their own site, and they can do service within any of AmeriCorps’s focus areas: education, environment, human needs, public safety, and homeland security.
Appropriate service activities would include but are not limited to: tutoring or mentoring in schools, participating in service-learning courses or service-based internship/practicum programs, working with environmental projects or at community service agencies, serving as a service-learning coordinator, or a variety of other activities.
