President's Award for Leadership

Since 1996, the President’s Award has been an honor bestowed annually to students and others who advance leadership and engagement at WSU. Recipients of this prestigious award demonstrate exceptional leadership and service to the university and the community and/or support leadership development and engagement of WSU students.
Beginning in 2013, the CCE has combined the annual Excellence in Civic Engagement awards with Student Involvement's President's Awards to offer our constituents the opportunity to be recognized for all the ways they have improved our community as Cougar leaders. Because of this partnership, the award categories for the President's Awarded for Leadership are student, student group, faculty and community organization.
2013 LEAD Award Ceremony on April 18
The 2013 Leadership and Engagement Awards of Distinction (LEAD) is a celebration of Washington State University (WSU) student leaders and those who have mentored and supported the efforts of these students as they work towards leadership and social change. The LEAD program will include the inauguration of the 2013-14 ASWSU and GPSA officers, a Gallery of Leadership, and the presentation of the 2013 President’s Award for Leadership featuring Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman and WSU President Elson Floyd. The LEAD event took place on Thursday, April 18 beginning at 5:00 pm in the Compton Union Senior Ballroom on the WSU Pullman campus. This event was live streamed for online students and others at a distance, and the rough video of the event can be viewed here. The 2013 Awardee List is also available for download.
Beginning at 5:00 pm, the current ASWSU and GPSA officers were acknowledged for their service throughout the year, and the 2013-14 officers were inaugurated. Following the inauguration, guests were invited to congratulate the new and old ASWSU and GPSA representatives, visit the Gallery of Leadership, and enjoy a brief event reception. The Gallery of Leadership featured a variety of projects in which WSU students have shown themselves to be true Cougar leaders who have made a difference in the community or on campus.
After the Gallery of Leadership and reception, the presentation of the 2013 President’s Award for Leadership began with an address by Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman. Since 1996, the President’s Award has been an honor bestowed annually to students and others who advance leadership and engagement at WSU.
