President's Award for Leadership
Since 1996, the President’s Award has been an honor bestowed annually to students and others who advance leadership and engagement at WSU. Recipients of this prestigious award demonstrate exceptional leadership and service to the university and the community as well as to those who support leadership development in WSU students. The award categories are student, student group, faculty or staff and community organization.
Beginning in 2013, the CCE has combined the annual Excellence in Civic Engagement awards with the President's Award for Leadership to offer our constituents the opportunity to be recognized for all the ways they have improved our community as Cougar leaders. Award recipients will be honored at the Leadership and Engagement Awards of Distinction (LEAD) event, which takes place during Civic Engagement Week. The LEAD event and President’s Award are presented in partnership by Student Involvement and the Center for Civic Engagement.
Nomination and Application Forms for the Annual WSU President’s Award for Leadership
To select the awardees, a committee of faculty, staff and students will review applicants by considering each within the framework of the Social Change Model of Leadership Development, specifically with respect to these qualities: consciousness of self, congruence, commitment, collaboration, common purpose, controversy with civility, citizenship and change. Award recipients will be honored at the Leadership and Engagement Awards of Distinction (LEAD) event on April 24, 2014 at 5 PM. You can learn more about the LEAD event below.

LEAD is a celebration of WSU student leaders and those who have mentored and supported the efforts of these students as they work towards leadership and positive social change. This event is the premiere event of Civic Engagement Week, a time the CCE reserves to celebrate student engagement in the community. LEAD consists of several elements, including the presentation of the President’s Award for Leadership to students, faculty and staff, and community partners; the inauguration of the 2014-15 ASWSU officers; and a Gallery of Leadership. LEAD is live streamed so that online students as well as awardee friends and family at a distance can view the presentation of the awards.
