Co-sponsored by the Center for Civic Engagement and University Recreation, Eco Adventures trips pair recreational activities with positive action for the environment. They offer the perfect opportunity to explore and enjoy the unique outdoor features of our region while acting as an ecological steward on behalf of those places. The goal of Eco Adventures is to provide opportunities for students to develop leadership and citizenship skills as they relate to the outdoor environment.
Fall 2016 Trip Schedule
Sunday, September 10 | Illia Dunes Clean Up & Paddle
8 AM – 4 PM | $25
Registration Deadline: September 3
During this Eco Adventure, participants will be sea kayaking and beautifying the area of Illia Dunes. This is an opportunity to help maintain one of the most popular outdoor hotspots of the Palouse; not to mention, we’ll be doing some awesome paddling on the Snake River as well! This is one of our most popular Eco Adventures, so register early!
Trip rating is level 1: no experience necessary! This trip runs rain or shine. Trip cost includes: kayak rental, transportation, and an Adventure Facilitator (food is not included so bring a snack and some water). After participating in this Eco Adventure, participants will be able to see the rewards of their service and appreciate the land even more.
Friday, October 6 – Sunday, October 8 | Backpacking to Stanley Hotsprings
October 6 at 4 PM – October 8 at 9 PM | $75

Join the Outdoor Recreation Center for a chance to hike to and enjoy Stanley Hot Springs, while providing service to the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness. You will have the opportunity to soak in several different hot spring pools as well as give the land some well needed restoration. Participants should plan for camping in cool conditions with brisk mornings and evenings.
Trip rating is level 2: no experience necessary! Trip cost includes: group gear, backpacking equipment, transportation, permits, and trip leader (Food NOT included). The pre-trip meeting will on October 2 at 6 PM in the ORC.
Sunday, November 12 | Moscow Mountain Day Hike
9 AM – 5 PM | $35

The Palouse’s hilly landscape makes it the perfect place to get outside. This trip is designed to enjoy the Palouse’s beauty while hiking. Since it is a local trip, this trip will also open your eyes to the possibilities hidden within the Palouse. All you need is a warm coat and a smile! We will be spending time cleaning and restoring some of the higher use areas where we’ll be traveling.
Trip rating is level 1: no experience necessary. This trip includes transportation and trip leaders (Food is NOT included so please bring lunch, water, and snacks).
