
Chancellor's Challenge to Feed Cougs Well
April 3-16
The Chancellor's Challenge to Feed Cougs Well is a partnership between the WSU Pullman Office of the Chancellor and Cougar Food Pantry designed to unite students, faculty, staff, and community members in the fight against food insecurity. Running from April 3rd to April 16th, this event encourages donations and fundraising efforts, culminating in the grand finale on #CougsGive Day. Participants can enjoy friendly competition among departments and student organizations, all for a great cause.
How to Participate
Build Your Team
Anyone can participate! Build a team with your department, student organization, or group of friends.
1. Designate a team captain
Choose one person on your team to be the main point of contact. This person will manage the food collection efforts and schedule donation drop-offs.
2. Register your team
Ready to participate? Your team captain can sign up your team. Share these assets to help recruit other people!
Earn Points
3. Collect food donations
Team captains should ensure that all collected items meet the following guidelines before drop-off:
Accepted Items

Shelf-stable, non-perishable foods (e.g., canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal).

Protein sources such as canned meats, beans, and peanut butter.

Nutritious, easy-to-prepare meals (e.g., pasta kits, boxed side dishes).

Cultural and dietary-inclusive foods (e.g., halal, kosher, gluten-free options).

Hygiene products and household essentials (e.g., soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toilet paper).
Unaccepted Items

Perishable items requiring refrigeration or freezing.

Opened, expired, or damaged food packaging.

Homemade food or food without an ingredient label.

Alcohol or items containing alcohol (e.g., cooking wine).
4. Collect monetary donations
- Make donations through WSU Foundation.
- Donors will receive a confirmation receipt.
- Funds will be tracked daily and updated to your teams points.
5. Become a Cougar Ambassador for #CougsGive Day
- Sign up to be a Cougar Ambassador with WSU Foundation
- Post on social media and other channels on April 16.
Competition Categories
$1 donated = 1 pound of food donated = 1 ambassador
Each category will select one winning team to be recognized by Chancellor Dave Cillay and throughout campus.
